Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 108 -- STATE RECORDS COMMISSION

SPONSOR: Gross (Kelly, 144)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Corrections and State Institutions by a vote of 13 to 0.

This bill places the states' chief information officer on the
State Records Commission.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that because of the increased amount
of information gathered and stored through electronic means, it
is important that the chief information officer be on the
commission to provide input regarding the storage and archiving
of state records.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Gross; and Ken Winn, State
Archivist.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
